Last week Joshua, Brandon, and I went on a short backpacking trip to Peter Grubb hut which is maintained by the Sierra Club and located on the L section of the Pacific crest Trail. The hut is in Round Valley just past Castle Pass. Yes we took the Border Collie Rusty he now has his own backpack, and will accompany Josh and I in a couple days as we will start our journey on the PCT at the Boreal Ridge area and end in Sierra City.
4X4 mess on the PCT bummer. The reason they want to shut down access to ATV's and 4 wheel drive off road vehicles. This was just one of many we encountered.
The boys filtering their water.
Karl Salmonson, (my sheep sheerer and Eagle Scout) Blake Willick now an Eagle Scout, with his father Nick Willick former Chief of Police in Auburn, and Chris at the creek in Round Valley. This was a Scout outing when Chris was the Scoutmaster for troop 269 in Auburn.
Paint brush and Lupine in Round Valley.
Joshua fixing dinner in the hut.
Joshua and I will be doing the L section of this trail in a couple days so more to come....
I bet you are out there right now.... hope you aren't too cold! I love that country...

Great backpack-logue. I did a lot of it in my late teens. Reading your story and seeing the pics really brought everything to life for me. You are making some great memories for yourself and the kids. Way to go!
